Kuchen de Nuez is a typical dessert in Chile, especially in southern Chile in the lake region. it is very rich and usually served in small slices. 

½ cup butter
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
½ tsp baking powder
pinch of salt.

2 ¼ cups chopped walnuts
1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 egg
½ cup butter melted
pinch of salt

Tart pan or shallow pie pan

Preheat oven to 350F. Butter your tart pan, pie pan or 8x8 square pan. Beat the butter until it is light and smooth, add in the sugar and egg beat until well blended. Slowly add the flour until forms a soft well incorporated dough. Pour the dough into your baking dish and press down with fingers or spoon until it is evenly distributed. Pierce with fork all over so bubbles do not form. Bake 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Finely chop the walnuts. They need to be almost a powder but with tiny pieces. In a medium bowl mix the nuts with sweetened condensed milk, egg, and pinch of salt. Mix well and slowly add the melted butter. Mix until homogeneous. Pour over the crust. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake 30 minutes then carefully remove the aluminum foil and bake another 13-15 minutes until golden.
Remove and allow to cool completely on a baking rack. When it is completely cool refrigerate and serve when it is cool.
